</div><p>I washed it as suggested, with a brush and soap, and let it dry in the sun for 2 days. It still has the slippery film on it, despite all that and using it about 6 times. I should have bought this mat in the beginning of my yoga journey. But no, in my never ending quest to save money I bought enough other cheap mats to have paid for this one. The first time I used my mat I almost fell on my face during downward facing dog but after a couple of uses the mat did get a little bit more slip resistant but not to the point most of us would consider comfortable. This mat is very think relative to other yoga mats and that works well when working out on a hard surface.</p>
<p>It is so comfortable to use and I do not find it that heavy to tote around. I have a pretty good case of arthritis and this Manduka has made all of the difference in my practice.</p>

<p>You don&#8217;t slip, it smells fine (it&#8217;s PVC, of course it&#8217;s going to smell at bit at first), and it makes holding poses fun. A note about the size &#8211; I got the 71&#8243; one because I&#8217;m 5&#8217;8ish and have wide shoulders.</p>
<p>Highly recommended! I ordered the black Manduka mat after hearing recommendations from friends, and I&#8217;m glad I did.</p>
<p>I wish that I did not have this issue because this is really a good mat. There is no traction on the mat. I compared my mat to my instructors mat and they are different &#8211; she has had her mat for many years, where mine is new, the manufacturing of the Manduka mat has changed, and the mat that I have is HORRIBLE! Manduka gave me a bag and a cloth that I can use on top of my mat because of the inconvenience, but when my cloth is dirty and I do not have it in class with me, I slip and slide all over this thing.</p>
<p>This is the Mercedes of yoga mats and padded enough for Pilates too. It is pricey, but you will not be disappointed!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s great. Going through multiple cheap mats was definitely a waste of money. Manduka&#8217;s mats have a unique dotted bottom surface that holds the mat in place during your practice. It looks unlike any other mat you&#8217;ve ever seen. I am very happy with this mat. It is thick enough to use alone. Given that my hands and my face smelled of it after practice, I am done with using it after one time. Laying in child&#8217;s pose and inhaling the fume just cancels out the benefits of practice, I think. I still slip some but not as much as I do using the typical sticky mats. The one thing I am not pleased about is that I have these marks on the mat, which I am assuming is due to sliding my feet down the mat on occasion.</p>
<p>I think I need to break it in a little more. It&#8217;s too soon to tell whether or not I&#8217;ll shred this one too.</p>
