Acai berries are truly one of nature’s miracle foods. They are loaded in antioxidants, B vitamins and essential amino acids. What exactly is a “Free Radical”? While most of us have heard the expression, it is not inevitably understandable precisely what a free radical is. A free radical is a naturally occurring result of our bodily functions. In disproportionate quantities they are dangerous and they can injure our cells and produce disease and age related degeneration. However, they are not all detrimental and our bodies do need some of them.

Free radicals occur during the process of oxidation in our bodies. Ponder about how an apple will turn brown if it is cut open and exposed to air. That is the method of oxidation and it is the same manner that causes free radicals in our bodies. more…
