I wish to start out by stating that this information is simply my opinion based on the information I have read from expert authors in addition to more than a decade of eating and living the way I have daily. Also, with my blood work done twice each year that indicates zero deficiencies, I think that this information is very valuable and of course valid. It could be that it just works for me, my genetic makeup and my body type, I can’t say for sure. However, just like smoking cigarettes will affect each of us with varying degrees of health negatives, eating green smoothies, I feel, will probably affect each one of us with varying degrees of health positives. The body is equipped to heal itself correct? Why is it that so many people are becoming and staying sick? Maybe that is incorrect and the human body really isn’t equipped for natural healing? No! The trouble is that men and women a) don’t give it with the suitable amount of tools, usually in terms of food intake, it requires to heal itself and b) we attack it with things that hinder the function of the limited number of resources that we do supply it.

I’m a big advocate of the raw food lifestyle. The suggestion that heating foods beyond a certain temperature destroying much needed enzymes that are significant to digestion makes plenty of sense to me. Beyond that, it is indicated that to get the most out of our food we must chew it until it’s gone. Our body has troubles digesting big pieces of food. Also, I feel that human beings can thrive off of a diet of chiefly fruits and greens, with of course some healthy fats. For the healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I generally consume.

The main meals I consume each an every day are comprised of lots of raw fruits and green vegetables in the form of green smoothies. Being in a liquid form, my body has no issues assimilating the nutrients.

A huge hurdle for most people when changing the way they eat, and a huge one for myself is fighting unhealthy cravings. Just like a person addicted to alcohol or drugs must detoxify to heal, we pretty much must to do a similar thing. Our cells are made up of stuff from foods that we have ingested in the past. The body usually craves much of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the makings of each one of the cells in our bodies. For drug detoxes, often, sauna therapy is used to sweat the drugs out of the system. This usually helps to eliminate the physical cravings which will allow the individual an improved chance of remaining sober. For us, improving our eating may very well trigger the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be naturally removed in our poop, perspiration and our pee. However, we may still having cravings for those foods while some of the toxic elements in our cells are still there.

I, myself, have found that right away after having the first drink of my smoothie my cravings for grease, meat, salt, etc started to die away. After I was done drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings disappeared completely and I’d be content. The issue then was that the cravings would come again as I grew hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another green smoothie ready before the cravings would come back, or not too long after they reared their ugly heads. The unhealthy cravings ultimately subsided for good as I became healthier. Afterward I began to crave greens instead!
